How to Add a website property to Google Search Console

If a website property has not been added yet to the search console, follow the steps below. 

Step 1: Open the Property Selector

  1. Open the property selector dropdown in any Search Console page, or click here.

  2. Select + Add property on the dropdown.

Step 2: Choose the Type of Property to Add

Option 1: Domain Property

  1. Enter the domain name in the Domain property field (e.g., nytroseo.com).

  2. Get Instructions for Any DNS provider.

  3. Copy TXT record to the DNS configuration.

  4. Click the verify button for the verification.

Option 2: URL-prefix property

  1. Enter the full URL in the URL prefix field (e.g., https://nytroseo.com).

  2. For the verification method, we recommend the HTML tag method.

  3. Copy the meta tag and paste it in the <head> section of the site.

  4. Click the verify button for the verification.

Step 3: Confirmation and Verification

  • Once the verification is complete, you will receive a confirmation message in Search Console.

  • If verification fails, double-check the instructions for your selected method and ensure the required changes were saved properly.
