How to Disable Webpage Optimization, Revert to Original Meta Tags, or Unpromote Your Entire Website

Managing a website's optimization and promotion settings is essential for controlling how your content is presented to search engines and users. Whether you want to disable optimization on specific pages, revert to original meta tags, or unpromote your entire site, this guide will walk you through each step.

This could be applied in case you need to refine your meta tags, troubleshooting or testing different strategies

Unpromoting the Entire Website

Step 1: Manage Website Promotion

  1. Log in to your NytroSEO dashboard.

  2. Navigate to Websites.

  3. If you have multiple websites, select the website you want to manage.

Step 2: Toggle Off Auto Optimization

  1. Toggle off “Auto Optimize Website” or click the button to disable optimization.

Disabling Optimization on Specific Pages

Step 1: Access the Pages Management

  1. Log in to your NytroSEO dashboard.

  2. Navigate to Pages ➡️ Manage.

Step 2: Disable Optimization

  1. Select the pages you wish to manage.

  2. Click the “Optimize” button to disable optimization for the selected pages.

If the icon is grayed out, it means that it has been disabled.

Note: Disabling optimization for specific pages can impact their performance in search engine rankings. Ensure that you document these changes for future reference.

Pause Mode

Step 1: Review Your Changes

Before pausing optimization, take a moment to review the changes you've made across your website. Consider the following:

  • Have you disabled optimization on the correct pages?

  • Do you need to document these changes?

  • Are you ready to revert to original meta tags or adjust other settings?

Step 2: Pause Optimization for the Entire Website

  1. Go to your NytroSEO dashboard.

  2. Navigate to Websites ➡️ Select the website you want to manage.

  3. Click the “Pause” button under the “Website Optimization” section.

Note: Pausing optimization will stop the transfer of changes to the server. However, you can resume optimization immediately by clicking the pause button again.

Reverting to Original Meta Tags

If optimization is disabled, the meta tags will automatically revert to their original state. However, if you prefer to manually revert to the original meta tags, follow the steps below:

Option 1: Reverting Meta Tags on Specific Pages

Step 1: Access Metadata Settings

  1. Log in to your NytroSEO dashboard.

  2. Navigate to Pages ➡️ Metadata.

Step 2: Select and Edit Metadata

  1. Select the page you want to manage.

  2. Click the Pencil icon to edit the optimized metadata.

  3. Save the changes to revert to the original meta tags.

Manually editing the metadata means that the system will no longer automatically change that data.

Option 2: Reverting Meta Tags in Settings

Step 1: Access Static Settings

  1. Go to your NytroSEO dashboard.

  2. Navigate to Settings ➡️ Static Settings.

Step 2: Apply the Secondary Rule

  1. Click the “Add secondary rule” button.

  2. Set the filter by including the links of the pages where the secondary rule will be applied.

  3. Remove all existing rules except for the original title.

  4. Save the changes.

  5. Click the refresh button to see the changes take effect.
